Finally Forward

It’s been a wild roller coaster ride since last June when I decided to sign up for Cosmetology school.

The biggest stressed has most definitely been getting a balance – kids, husband, business, school, and so much driving (nearly 20 hours in the car a week).

This was followed by the stress if dealing with high school female mentality, kids being sick, a few snowy days…and keeping my business in, well, business.

Lately I’ve been over the high school drama and just focused on getting as much experience as much as possible…and? My business.

And, my business? Might be growing…

Of course, there are steps. First is seeing if my landlord will make the necessary changes.

I was a lil behind on rent (a business stresser) so I didn’t want to make any requests till I was caught up….made possible with our handy-dandy tax return.

Tonight I talked with my landlord about the possible changes and they’re willing to work with me.

I’m beyond ecstatic right now…I feel like I’m finally getting things accomplished, in balance.

Now, approval from the Borough for another salon in our small town…..

Parenting….a Comedy

Scene:  Daddy overseeing daughter washing her hands after using the potty. She’s in a bad mood; so like any boy (yes, boy) he decides to tease her in attempt to cheer her up.
She’s not impressed.

Girl:  That’s not funny, daddy. Stop it.

More teasing.

Girl:  That’s not funny. I said stop it.

Daddy:  Okay. Walks out cockily for comic effect.

Girl:  That isn’t funny. YOU GET BACK HERE AND WALK RIGHT!

End scene

Not for Nothing

Massage therapy is caught in the middle.

Let me explain:

Because we aren’t required the extensive training, education (debt), and/or intensive pathology we can’t really be compared to doctors or even physical or occupational therapist.

But, there are some of us who perform massage as a therapy and help to relieved aches, pains, chronic symptoms and even improve on a client’s quality of life.

And, some avid massage therapy receivers do perceive it this way and actually won’t tip because you don’t tip your chiropractor or your dentist or your physical therapist.

On the other hand, massage is considered a pampering.

A way to relax and feel good; comparable to getting hair or nails done – the training and education is comparable, so why not this category.

These receivers typically tip.

No matter in what category we’re shoved so many think we should dole out freebies!

At an event? Give free chair massages for advertising.

At a family gathering? Give a free shoulder rub cause some one has been getting chronic headaches.

At the office, during a massage? Give an extra ten minutes…cause there’s no one scheduled afterwards.

At the office, after a massage? Give a free one cause some one has been coming for X amount of years.

Why?

Nobody expects free services from neither the doctor nor the hairdressers!!

Free dr visits only happen at a clinic if you financially qualify.

Physical therapy, dental care, chiropractic care are never free.

Hair or nail services aren’t even free at a hair school.

Why should a massage be free……?
